feature: Taking people to another place, not being afraid to polarize, and blessed chicken nuggets with OG Spliff

Winston-Salem is touted as a city of arts and innovation, and with folks like OG Spliff living and creating there I believe it. We got to interview the NC rapper about when he got started, his biggest inspirations, his favorite track he's done so far, and a whole lot more. Read the full thing after the jump!

Tell us about who you are and what you do.
My name is OG Spliff and I talk to people over beats for 1/35 of a penny on your favorite streaming platform.

When did you start rapping?
Around 17-18.


What's your favorite part about doing what you do?
Creating, performing, and when people tell me my music took them to another place or helped them through a tough time.

What's one of your favorite songs you've done?
"LEGEND" off BLEUMOB100! hits on so many different levels.



Who/what are some of your biggest inspirations?
Kid Cudi + Odd Future + Lil B + Hugo Ball/Avant Garde + getting high while watching anime and films, photography, installations, really all mediums of art, and everyday people.

What's some advice you'd give to fellow artists?
Don't be afraid to be polarizing, usually the most well known and respected artists are. Also be patient, everyone has their own path and timeline.

How is your personality reflected in your work?
My art includes everything I've experienced whether it be positive or negative, which reflects my personality because I love finding balance in the world along w/ engaging truthful stories.

Music you've been listening to lately?
Steady:Hyperactive (collective),  Lucki, Robb Banks, IGOR - new Tyler album, Crumb (band),  3400 (collective), and lots of artist based in NC especially hip hop because we are overlooked on EVERY level.


Favorite place in Winston-Salem to chow down?
J & J FOOD MART (& U Hauls) lowkey corner store gem that has the best fried chicken and potato wedges in the WORLD, and they BLESS on the chicken nuggets. I always get the surf n turf w/ hot sauce & honey mustard !!SS tier establishment!! 

Anything else you'd like to add?
Just dropped a song called "EXODUS" dedicated to the Exodus skate shop in Winston that just closed down, and to all the people/artists we have lost this year due to misplaced violence, brutality, and drug abuse.....tape soon... (pre) roll
